Transportation
The easiest way of getting to Arras is by plane to Lille and from there by TGV. Other easy ways include traveling by car on either the A1 or A26 highways, or by TGV from Paris, London and Brussels.
Get in
By train
Arras is served by a purpose-built branch of the LGV Nord high speed railway, with regular TGV services from Paris. Fast trains take less than one hour to get to Arras from Gare du Nord in Paris. Most Eurostar outbound trains to London will stop at Arras too.
By car
The city enjoys a strategic location at the crossroads of highways A1 (Paris-Lille) and A26 (Reims-Calais Tunnel). This makes Arras easily reachable by car.
By plane
Although the city is very close to the provincial airport of Roclincourt, the best way to get to Arras, if you depart from outside of Europe, is to fly into Lille and then take a train. The airport at Lille gets flights from all around the world, and is also the closest major city to Arras.
Get around
Artis buses cover central Arras and neighboring areas and the 24-hour Alliance Arras Taxis can take you around town. For a cheaper option that will get you to the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, 10km from Arras, take bus 91 towards Lens and ask the driver to stop a bit before the Thelus-Vert Tilleul turnoff. Another option is to catch a train from Arras to Vimy.
